Returning players include Crognale, Kavita, Martinez, Etaka, VanOekel
Birmingham, AL (Dec. 4, 2023) – Birmingham Legion FC announces roster decisions in preparation for the 2024 USL Championship Season.
Legion have signed new contracts with Preston Tabort Etaka and Moses Mensah pending league and federation approval.
The 10 players that will return on existing contracts include Enzo Martinez, Matt VanOekel, Tyler Pasher, Prosper Kasim, Diba Nwegbo, Alex Crognale, Phanuel Kavita, Matthew Corcoran, Trevor Spangenberg and Mikey Lopez.
“As we prepare for the 2024 season, we have to make difficult decisions that we believe are in the team’s best interest moving forward,” said Jay Heaps, President and GM.
Legion declined the 2024 contract options for Seth Torman, Gabriel Alves, and Mateao Bunbury. The loans for defender Collin Smith and forward Tyler Freeman expired at the end of the season. Jake Rufe, Anderson Asiedu, Neco Brett, Grayson Dupont, and Juan Agudelo are out of contract. Conversations are ongoing for a potential return to Birmingham for Agudelo, Rufe, and Brett.
