The trade is the first in the USL Championship under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and at this time the terms of the deal are to remain undisclosed
BIRMINGHAM, AL (April 27, 2022) – Birmingham Legion FC announced today that the club has traded forward Macky Diop to fellow USL Championship Eastern Conference side Detroit City FC.
“We would like to thank Macky for his efforts in his time with us here in Birmingham,” said Jay Heaps, Legion FC President and General Manager. “This deal affords us added flexibility to continue building and improving our roster moving forward.”
Diop made nine appearances so far this season with Legion FC and scored one goal on five shots, with two chances created. The Senegalese center forward previously played for Atlanta United 2 where he scored eight goals and added two assists across the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
