
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 7, 2024) – Birmingham Legion FC announced today the signing of Kobe Hernandez-Foster, pending league and federation approval.
“We are excited to have Kobe join Birmingham Legion,” said President and GM Jay Heaps. “He is a two-way player and will strengthen our midfield.”
“I’m extremely happy to be part of this organization! Can’t wait to get on the field with my new teammates,” said Hernandez-Foster. “I’m ready to give everything for this badge and team to help achieve the club’s goals.”
LA Galaxy signed Hernandez-Foster when he was 14 years old in 2016. During his time with the U-14 side, the striker recorded 24 goals, earning himself a promotion to the U-16 and later to the Galaxy II. After coming up through the LA Galaxy Academy, Herandez-Foster made his professional debut with the Galaxy II as a late substitute in the 3-1 fall to OKC Energy FC in 2018. During his time with Los Dos, Hernandez-Foster began making his transition from striker to left-back. He recorded three appearances for Galaxy II, completing 90.2 percent of his passes, and winning 66.7 percent of all his tackles. In 2019 Hernandez-Foster won the Academy West Conference Player of the Year.
Hernandez-Foster popped up on the US national radar, debuting for the USMNT U-17s in April 2018 at age 15. He featured at the CONCACAF U17 Championship in May 2019 as vice-captain, helping the US qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup appearing in six of seven matches and scoring the opening goal vs. Barbados.
German club, VfL Wolfsburg signed Hernandez-Foster in 2020, where he made five appearances for the club’s U19s, and recorded two assists. Hernandez-Foster made his debut for the first team in a pre-season friendly win over Erzgebirge Aue on July 6, 2021. Most recently he played at the Norwegian Eliteserien club, Hamarkameratene (HamKam) where he made 42 appearances.
