
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 7, 2024) – Birmingham Legion FC announced today the signing of Mujeeb Murana, pending league and federation approval.
“We are happy to announce the signing of Mujeeb to Legion,” said President and GM, Jay Heaps. “He is a versatile defender and will complement our backline.”
Murana has spent the entire preseason with Legion and has made four appearances for Legion’s preseason games.
“I’m excited for this new challenge in my career and feel grateful to be a part of one of the top clubs in the USL Championship,” said Murana.
Murana most recently spent time with Houston Dynamo where he signed a Homegrown contract becoming the 15th Dynamo Academy product to sign a contract with the senior team. He made his professional debut with the Dynamo in a 1-0 U.S. Open Cup win over Sporting Kansas City on May 10, 2023.
Murana joined the Dynamo after a season with the Houston Dynamo 2 in February 2022 as one of the four Academy products to join the inaugural roster. He made 23 appearances and recorded an assist in Dynamo’s semifinal match against Tacoma Defiance. Murana joined the Dynamo Academy in 2012 and made his way through the ranks, becoming the captain of the U-19 team.
Murana had a great collegiate career, he spent three seasons at Saint Louis University where he was named twice to the All-Atlantic 10 team.
